Fans of awkward high-school hearts and carefully constructed emotional walls, get ready as the wait is almost over.
Yep, I am happy to report The Ramparts of Ice, Season 2 (also known as Koori no Jouheki) is racing back this Fall with a brand-new trailer and key visual that perfectly capture the series’ signature mix of warm friendship vibes and quietly heartbreaking near-misses dropping today.
The new key visual shows the core four — Koyuki Hikawa, Miki Azumi, Minato Amamiya, and Youta Hino — laughing together in a classroom.
It’s a brighter, more joyful snapshot than earlier teaser imagery, full of the easy camaraderie that makes these characters so endearing.

But don’t let the smiles fool you: the accompanying trailer flips the script, spotlighting how these same four people who clearly care about one another keep drifting just out of reach.
Feelings develop, confessions land (or don’t), and their paths keep crossing in all the most frustratingly human ways. (Although, I must admit, that trailer looks waaaaaaay more depressing than I remember Season 1 being, right?)
What can we expect in The Ramparts of Ice, Season 2
Season 2 picks up the coming-of-age story of Koyuki, the socially withdrawn student who keeps everyone at arm’s length behind her emotional “ramparts.”
Her quiet high-school routine with childhood friend Miki gets thoroughly disrupted by the persistently friendly Minato, while gentle basketball player Youta has his own long-held feelings in play.
As the group grows closer, friendships edge into something more complicated, and the classic teen tangle of unspoken emotions takes center stage. It’s clumsy, sincere, and deeply relatable. Exactly the kind of story that turns casual viewers into dedicated fans.

The Ramparts of Ice manga
Based on the hit manga by Kocha Agasawa (the same creator behind the brilliant You and I Are Polar Opposites), the series has already proven its popularity.
The original work racked up massive digital numbers on LINE Manga and sold millions of physical volumes. The first season, which aired from April through early July 2026, introduced the world to these characters with charm and careful emotional detail.
The Ramparts of Ice, Season 2 staff and cast details
Thankfully, after just how wonderful Season 1 turned out to be, I’m happy to report the second season is also set to continue the story under the same creative team.
Director Mankyu (known for The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague) returns at Studio KAI, with series composition by Yasuhiro Nakanishi, character designs by Miki Ogino, and music by Natsumi Tabuchi and Kanade Sakuma.
The main voice actors are also back reprising their roles in Season 2. Yay! They are Anna Nagase as Koyuki, Fuka Izumi as Miki, Shouya Chiba as Minato, and Satoshi Inomata as Youta.
Mark your calendars as The Ramparts of Ice, Season 2 premieres on Japanese television on October 1st, 2026 (Thursdays at 11:56 p.m. on the TBS network and affiliates).
It will also stream worldwide on Netflix starting around the same time, with weekly episodes every week after.
Whether you’re here for the soft romance, the realistic portrayal of social anxiety and growing pains, or just the pure joy of watching four lovable characters try (and sometimes fail) to figure out their feelings, I have got to say Season 2 looks ready to deliver.
The classroom smiles in the new visual are pure sunshine, but that trailer also makes it clear the emotional weather is about to get a lot more interesting.
Get those tissues and snacks ready. The walls are coming down (or going back up), and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. How about you?
