With Chinese donghua Fabulous Beasts dropping its Season 6 on August 5th in China (August 7th everywhere else), Bilibili has been nicely releasing character videos for some of the new and already favorite characters we can expect to be showing up.
The latest one to receive their very own character video is Fabulous Beasts‘ Inari Fox and “fox of knowledge” Shota, who was Fuzai’s temple mate when she was in Japan.
He’s not just any old Inari Fox, though, as he also has a massive crush on Fuzai, and plans on marrying her someday.
What is mythical beast Shota famous for?
The currently-58-year-old Shota is known for being kind and brave, and for having the skill of instant learning.
That means he can learn anything by using a scroll that immediately imparts the information into his brain. In other word, no long hours studying for Shota, eh?
In Shota’s new character video, the little fox is still at his temple in Japan, but Fuzai is now in China with Hetao. We do get to see many of Shota’s cute facial expressions though, even while he’s pining for her.
The donghua Fabulous Beasts is based on the Chinese manhua You Shou Yan or 有兽焉, which is written and illustrated by the extremely prolific author Xue Xia Mao Yao Zi.

The manhua currently has over 1,000 chapters out so, yep, there is still plenty more material to adapt into a donghua long after the new Season 6 drops.
Look out for the first episode of Season 6, which is the animated series’ official Episode 61, arriving on the Made by Bilibil — Chinese Donghua Animation channel on YouTube on August 7th.
Although, from previous trailers, I think Hetao is the star of that episode and not Shota.
