How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Season 3 rumor is true!
I have to admit I laughed out loud — delightedly, I might add — when the upcoming How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Season 3 was announced earlier today.
Because, come on, as we all know, it is now five years since the utterly fabulous Season 2 of the isekai harem anime series aired its last episode, so I think I am probably representative of the rest of the fandom when I presumed a third season was beyond all reason.
But, here we are, with a pretty reliable leaker on X posting only a couple of days ago that Season 3 was on its way, and the upcoming season confirmed by the anime’s official X account this morning.
Season 3 is officially titled How Not to Summon a Demon Lord: ULT – which apparently stands for Ultimate Slave Magic, although nothing more than that has been announced as of yet.
We did, however, get a Season 3 announcement visual, created by original character designer Takahiro Tsuruzaki, and featuring Demon Lord Diablo, Rem and Shera looking even more joined-at-the-hip than I remembered.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord‘s previous seasons production info
Should season 3 of the fantasy isekai anime look similar to the first two seasons, we can expect either Season 1 director Yuta Murano (A Sign of Affection), or Season 2 director Satoshi Kuwabara (The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses) to helm the third season.
Chances are it may have switched studios again though, as Studio Ajia-Do animated Season 1, while Season 2 was animated by both Tezuka Productions and Okuruto Noboru.
That technically means the animation studio for Season 3 is anybody’s guess.
We do know lead voice actors Masaki Mizunaka (Diablo), Yu Serizawa (Shera), and Azumi Waki (Rem) will be back, as they are listed on the anime’s official website, and have all released congratulatory messages for Season 3. So, yay!
Guess we will see about the rest when more information drops, right?
As it stands right now, though, Season 3 is confirmed and, no exaggeration, that news has absolutely made my week as the first season of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord back in 2018 was the fantasy anime after the equally hilarious Konosuba that made me become truly invested in the isekai genre.
