Yakiimohokuhoku’s light novel gets anime adaptation
Anyone who watches as much anime as I do knows we have been inundated lately with fantasy romance series about a supposedly cold/dangerous/unattainable prince/noble/other high-specs dude who is brought to heel by the woman of his dreams.
Think My Happy Marriage, In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom, Forget That Night, Your Majesty, Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!, and Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex.
Some of which were great, and some were pretty awful.
So, don’t be surprised that we have another such fantasy romance series heading our way this year as, apparently, these types of series are enjoyed by a plethora of anime fans.
This time, it’s Saved by the Ice Cold Prince’s Embrace, which is based on Yakiimohokuhoku’s light novel series, and has been greenlit for an anime adaptation that is scheduled to drop its first episodes in July.
The manga adaptation of the novel is published in English via Manga Plaza.

First Saved by the Ice Cold Prince’s Embrace key visual and manga artist’s celebratory visual released
Along with the announcement, we also got the anime’s first key visual featuring a stern but very handsome prince and a delighted-looking illegitimate daughter of a count and his maid, Katrina.
In the background are several friendly-looking servants, while Katrina’s awful stepmother and sister look on laughing. Although, don’t you get the feeling they will soon be laughing on the other side of their faces?
A celebratory visual has also been illustrated by manga adaptation writer and artist Kusabi Kurokawa. In this one, the prince doesn’t look even remotely cold-hearted, and Katrina looks ecstatic.

No details have been released about the animation studio, writer, character designer or voice actor, as they will come closer to its released date.
The plot, by the way, looks like this:
As the illegitimate daughter of a count and his maid, Katrina was born into miserable circumstances. And now that she’s lost her mother, the treatment from her stepsister and stepmother the countess has only grown worse. One day, her stepsister receives a royal order to move to the northern outskirts due to her unseemly behavior at a recent party. There, she is to learn proper conduct under the tutelage of the resident prince, rumored to be a cruel man.
Not wanting to subject her daughter to such punishment, the countess decides to send Katrina instead. Katrina arrives in the north shaking in fear. But contrary to the stories, the “merciless and cold-hearted” prince is kinder than she believed. Might the pure-hearted Katrina find love in the wintry countryside?
So, no, I would say it’s nothing different from many other anime we have been served recently, but, if you are into fantasy romance series where a good woman wins a decent guy’s heart, look out for this one as it might be fun.
And yep, that does describe me.
