6 Northern Land characters join Kakuriyo, Season 2
Now, I have to admit, as someone who almost obsessed over the first season of the Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- anime series, its currently ongoing second season has fallen a bit flat.
Particularly as the plot has gone from cozy and comforting to annoying, as we now have the anime’s most interesting character, ogre Oodanna, missing in action for the last four episodes, and uninteresting characters taking his place.
Throw in political intrigue that doesn’t have any spark to it, a returning villain who isn’t dark only irritating, and dialogue that often has protagonist Aoi simply repeating what someone else has said (over and over again) as her side of a conversation, and I am now finding myself watching each episode on 1.5 speed.
But… with five voice actors (and their six new characters) being added to the cast this week, maybe this will be the impetus to get me (and quite a few other people, if the falling score on My Anime List is anything to go by) out of my funk, and back to enjoying the fantasy anime before its second season ends.
5 new Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits cast members and their 6 characters’ designs
The new voice cast members joining Season 2 of Kakuriyo are:
- Shinnosuke Tokudome (Jinta in Sword of the Demon Hunter) who is voicing Kiyo
- Reina Kondou (Eta in The Eminence in Shadow) as Itaki
- Genta Nakamura (Kouta in Kaiju No. 8) is playing Resak
- Minori Suzuki (Natsumi in Grand Blue) who voices twins Kai and Mei
- Aoi Yuki (Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries) is playing Ougondouji
Although, you should already recognize Kai and Mei from Season 1.
Cute character designs for all six new characters, which are in keeping with the other mythologically-based characters in the fantasy anime, were also released.

If you have already watched Episode 8 of Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-, you will know the new characters will likely pop up as Aoi, Ranmaru, Byakuya and the rest of the Tenjin crowd aboard the flying ship are now heading to the Northern Lands in an attempt to make them allies against
