While I do like the pretty character designs for the upcoming school-themed romance anime In The Clear Moonlit Dusk, you have got to admit they are very familiar looking.
I mean, protagonist Kohaku Ichimura is a dead ringer for A Sign of Affection‘s Itsuomi Nagi, while two other The Clear Moonlit Dusk characters — Sentaro Akane and Shun Kuwabatake — could have jumped out of the same anime. (see their character designs below)
I guess we’ll see how close the anime art itself is to A Sign of Affection, an anime I loved, when it premieres in January, 2026, eh?
Those two The Clear Moonlit Dusk characters, by the way, had their voice actors announced today via The Clear Moonlit Dusk anime’s website.
They are Kentaro Kumagai (Takuya in 365 Days to the Wedding),who plays Shun Kuwabatake, while Shota Hayama (Kazushi Yamagishi in Tokyo Revengers) voices Sentaro Akane.
They also had their cute character designs released…

The two voice actors join the previously announced Ryouta Suzuki who plays Kohaku Ichimura, Rei Ichinomiya who is voicing Yoi Takiguchi, Aya Yamane who is Nobara Tone, and Momoko Seto who is playing Hibiya Kotobuki.
In the Clear Moonlit Dusk production details
The romance anime is being adapted from the hit manga of the same name by Mika Yamamori. Kodansha USA publishes the English language version of the series.

The series is being directed by Yusuke Maruyama (Episode Director of Lycoris Recoil), with series composition from Ayumu Hisao (Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life), and those character designs by Yuki Fukuda (Insomniacs After School).
The animation studio is East Fish Studio, who animated the brilliant anime series A Condition Called Love.
The first volume of the original Japanese manga explains its quite unique plot like this:
Yoi Takiguchi is a girl known as “Prince” for her good looks and smart behavior. She has mixed feelings about the fact that people admire her and say she’s like a hero from a shojo manga.
Then, she suddenly meets Ichimura-senpai, a boy one year older than her who is also known as “Prince.” Yoi thinks Ichimura-senpai doesn’t seem prince-like at all because of his slightly rude way of speaking, but…!?
The story of a man and woman who are both known as “Prince” begins to unfold!
Keep checking back to Baozi Buns, as we’ll keep you posted as more In the Clear Moonlit Dusk details drop. (Update: The full trailer for the anime has just dropped, and it’s just as pretty as you’d expect!).
As, let’s just say, from what the romance manga fans who love, love, love this one are saying, if it sticks closely to that manga, the anime adaptation is likely to be one of 2026’s hits.
