Let’s Go Kaikigumi anime announced – trailer, key visual, Mechako and Nameless Protagonist character designs drop – staff, cast named

The supernatural comedy manga Let’s Go Kaikigumi is getting an anime adaptation.
The anime was announced via the official Let’s Go Kaikigumi X account today, along with a wild-looking key visual, a teaser trailer, and with its main staff and cast announced. Two characters’ designs also dropped.
Yep, for once, we actually got a plethora of details for an upcoming anime, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Especially as this one is being animated by C-Station (Yuru Camp).
The first Let’s Go Kaikigumi key visual features Mechako who as she is crouching down in a dark alley, it appears, has just frightened our nameless protagonist, and he’s now freaking out. (We’ll get to those two in a minute).
Let’s Go Kaikigumi production details
The anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by mangaka View and, along with the visual and trailer, the main staff for the Let’s Go Kaikigumi anime was also confirmed.
They are director Yutaka Hirata (episode director Golden Kamuy), screenwriter Mitsumi Itou (Heya Camp), who is also in charge of series composition, and character designer Yoshimitsu Yamashita (House of Five Leaves).
C-Station (animators of Laid-Back Camp) is in charge of animation production.
Three voice actors were also named.
Tasuku Hatanaka (Reki in SK8 the Infinity) is voicing The Protagonist, Ruriko Aoki (Ouka in The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses) plays Mechako, and Shigeru Chiba (Buggy in One Piece) is The Narrator.
The character designs are also out for both the Nameless Protagonist and Mechako.
The Let’s Go Kaikigumi plot goes like this:
The story begins one evening when the protagonist meets Mechako, the boss of the “Kaiki-gumi,” an organization that controls ghosts and monsters that threaten humans. The protagonist is six times more vulnerable to ghosts than the average person, but for some reason he ends up helping the Kaiki-gumi revive…
Around him, one strange event after another unfolds, both terrifying and not so terrifying, in this uniquely bizarre comedy drama.
The anime series will air on Sunday evenings in Japan on the TBS network of 28 stations nationwide. It is currently scheduled for a 2026 release.
And yep, if you have already watched GeGeGe no Kitaro, this one feels a little similar.
As for the just-released Let’s Go Kaikigumi teaser trailer, it won’t tell you much as all we see is the Nameless Protagonist running down an alleyway in the dark, then coming across creepy looking Mechako and screaming.
It does look quirky and weird though, and I’m always up for that. Aren’t you?
