With six episodes now out, donghua fans who are currently watching the ongoing World of Immortals are likely as annoyed with the out-for-vengeance-and-death princess Zhao Lin’er as I am.
To the point that, if she isn’t killed soon, like me, you might just reach into the screen and kill her yourself. (If only, eh?)
If you watched World of Immortals Episode 6 then, you will know we almost got our wish as Zhao Lin’er ends up in the lair of the King of Immortals alongside Xiao Chen, and things don’t turn out too well for her.
Of course, with Xiao Chen’s luck when it comes to Zhao Lin’er, things don’t end up as we would have hoped for him either as, yet again, he is unable to kill her.
After all, even when he grabs a fabric he finds in the lair to protect himself from the breath of death, the spiteful and arrogant Lin’er grabs it from him.
Then, when he tries to run her through with his sword, the King of Immortals begins to wake up and stops him.
At the end of the clip (and towards the end of Episode 6), even though she is suffocating under the swirling breath of death, we still see Zhao Lin’er’s winged white unicorn on its way into the lair to save her.

All of which is shown in this just released World of Immortals, Episode 6 clip video, which also reminds us again how gorgeous these character models are and what high-quality the animation.
And, if you love the art style in the donghua as much as I do, the animation studio has just released 12 beautiful stills from Episode 6 to drool over.
World of Immortals details
The superbly animated World of Immortals (aka Chang Sheng Jie) is animated by Qingxiang Culture (Apotheosis), and produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures.
The 26-episode fantasy, action adventure donghua premiered on WeTV on October 29th, and currently has six episodes out with Episode 7 due to premiere tomorrow, December 3rd, 2024.
WeTV describes its plot like this:
Xiao Chen, pursued by the imperial celestial maiden Zhao Lin’er, accidentally stumbles into the Desolate Dragon Island within the Realm of Eternal Life.
Trapped in a hostile world filled with enemies and beasts, he battles for survival, driven by his longing for family and home.
As he fights his way through, he uncovers an ancient, forgotten mythological world while following the path of those seeking immortality.
