I was casually scrolling through my usual anime news feeds this morning when this hit — Sakamoto Days, Season 2 has just dropped a fresh teaser trailer and key visual, plus confirmation of three new characters joining the lineup.
The whole thing landed on June 24th, 2026, via Netflix, and it’s got me genuinely looking forward to what’s next. Not that I wasn’t already.
The new Sakamoto Days key visual is clean and purposeful.

It shows Taro Sakamoto and Shin Asakura standing back-to-back, clearly gearing up for some serious infiltration work at the Japan Clear Creation (JCC) academy. Sakamoto’s got a pen in hand (his “weapon” from the entrance exam, apparently), while Shin’s rocking upgraded gloves. It feels focused and a little tense without going full chaos mode, which is exactly the vibe that fits this series, isn’t it?
The teaser trailer leans into that same energy.

We see Sakamoto undercover, disguised as his wife Aoi while playing the role of a student teacher at the academy. Shin’s there too, blending in as a regular student and quietly gathering intel.
It’s classic Sakamoto Days: high-stakes assassin stuff mixed with everyday absurdity. The trailer also teases returning faces like Natsuki Seba and Akira Akao, and it introduces the three new characters we’ve been waiting on.
Those new Sakamoto Days, Season 2 character and cast additions are:
Amane Yotsumura who is voiced by Kikunosuke Toya — a JCC student who carries a strong grudge against the Japanese Association of Assassins and crosses paths with Sakamoto and Shin during their mission.

Etsuko Satoda who is voiced by Misa Watanabe — the longest-serving instructor at JCC. She comes off intimidating at first but clearly cares about her students underneath it all.

Satoru Yotsumura who is played by Shinshū Fuji — one of the founding members of the Order. He gives off a reserved, analytical vibe, but there’s clearly more going on with him.

On the staff side, Daisuke Nakajima (who directed episode 22 of Season 1) is taking over as director for Season 2, with Masaki Watanabe staying on as supervising director.
The rest of the core team — series composition by Taku Kishimoto, character design by Yō Moriyama, and music by Yūki Hayashi — is returning, which is reassuring.
Tomokazu Sugita and Nobunaga Shimazaki are also back as Sakamoto and Shin, along with the rest of the familiar cast.
When is Sakamoto Days, Season 2 premiering?
Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in January, 2027. That’s a bit of a wait, but given how Season 1 balanced wild action with Sakamoto’s dad-life comedy, I’m curious to see how they expand on the JCC arc and whatever else is coming.
If you’re behind on Season 1, it’s all streaming on Netflix right now. And you do have plenty of time to catch up before the new episodes drop.
Overall, this teaser feels like a solid, confident step forward.
The animation looks sharp in the clips we’ve seen, the new characters slot in naturally, and the infiltration setup promises some fun twists.
I’m not counting the days yet, but January 2027 is definitely on my radar now. What are you most excited to see in Season 2?
