The utterly cute reincarnation rom-com anime If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student just got a new trailer, as well as announcements of the voice over actors portraying the three main characters.
The If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student trailer starts close to the beginning of the story, when single father and widower Keisuke Niijima opens his door one day to see elementary school student Marika Shiraishi standing before him.
But Marika is not just any ordinary student. Instead, she is the reincarnation of his dead wife Takae, and the mother of his daughter Mai.
From then on, we see Marika sitting at the kitchen table convincing Keisuke and Mai she is their wife/mother, and then the pair adopting her into their family.
A family that is now made up of a middle-aged man whose “wife” is an elementary school student, with all the societal problems that could cause, and a daughter whose mother is younger than she is.
Even Marika herself knows the situation is strange, pointing out in the trailer when Keisuke is thanking her for making him a bento while standing outside, “You’ll be labeled a pervert for not doing this at home”. (watch below)
If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student cast, staff and premiere date
In addition to the new If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student trailer, the three cast members were named, and photographs released of each one alongside their character illustrations.

As for the anime’s staff, Noriyuki Abe (My New Boss is Goofy) is directing, with Sawako Hirabayashi (Kuroko no Basket) in charge of series composition, and Narihito Sekikawa (Bem Movie: Become Human).
Studio Signpost (Kingdom Seasons 3, 4 and 5) are in charge of anime production.
The If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student anime is based on the manga series by Yayu Murata.
The manga has 14 volumes out in Japanese, but has yet to receive an English language translation. Hopefully that will change if the upcoming anime is a success.
Now watch the If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student trailer and, while the premise might be potentially problematic, you will see quickly the entire thing is actually quite wholesome.
The anime is scheduled for an October, 2024 release.
