A first look at From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, Season 2

The preview suggests Season 2 will lean further into emotional character development while maintaining the grounded swordplay that defined the first season.
The accompanying teaser visual (above) reinforces this tone, depicting Beryl standing in a moonlit dojo with his wooden sword at the ready.
His opponent is his father who, you may remember, Beryl mentioned in the first season he has never managed to beat.
An image that emphasizes both the introspective and martial themes of the anime’s upcoming Season 2.
July 2026 premiere of From Old Country Bumpkin, Season 2 confirmed
Season 2 is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in July 2026.
The continuation was greenlit shortly after the first season aired from April to June 2025, which proves yet again the strong fan reaction for the franchise.

- Nao Toyama as Allucia Citrus

Meanwhile, cast comments accompanying the announcement hint that Season 2 will portray a more mature and psychologically complex version of Beryl.
About the From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman anime series
Based on the light novels by Shigeru Sagazaki, the story follows middle-aged sword instructor Beryl, who believes himself ordinary until he discovers his former students have become elite warriors using the techniques he taught them.
Now, in the capital and hired by the knights of the Liberion Order as a special instructor, Beryl begins to discover he might not be ‘ordinary’ when it comes to going up against the kingdom’s best fighters either.
Since its first publication, the franchise has expanded across novels, manga, and anime adaptations. Thus building a steadily growing international fanbase.
Season 2 of its popular anime adaptation will again be directed by Akio Kazumi (Loner Life in Another World) with series composition by Kunihiko Okada, and character designs and chief animation by Satsuki Hayasaka (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy).
Studios Passione and Hayabusa Film are returning to handle animation production.
