The Heartfelt Finale of Kimi no Katana ga Oreru Made – Tsukimiya Matsuri no Koigataki – manga ends with Chapter 55
Manga series Until Your Sword Breaks ending in next chapter
Kimi no Katana ga Oreru Made – Tsukimiya Matsuri no Koigataki (Until Your Sword Breaks – Matsuri Tsukimiya’s Romantic Troubles), a romantic comedy manga with a historical twist by Koharu Inoue, will conclude with its 55th chapter in May 2025, as announced in chapter 54 earlier this month.
Set in the tumultuous Bakumatsu period, this short but poignant series has captivated readers with its blend of heartfelt romance, action, and historical drama.
As fans bid farewell to Matsuri Tsukimiya and Yonosuke Tsukimiya, this article looks at the manga’s ending, and what readers are saying about what they expect.
A story of love and redemption
Set in the Edo period’s final years, the manga follows Matsuri Tsukimiya, a 15-year-old beauty who is adored by all—except Yonosuke Tsukimiya, her childhood friend and the object of her affections.
Yonosuke, a bodyguard consumed by the need to avenge his former lover’s death at the hands of a shogun, dismisses Matsuri’s confessions, seeing her only as family due to their lifelong bond.
Determined to save him from a self-destructive path, Matsuri vows to become his “reason for living,” hoping to fill his heart with love and steer him away from vengeance.
The narrative thrives on Matsuri’s unwavering resolve and Yonosuke’s internal conflict, weaving a gritty yet humorous tale of unrequited love against a backdrop of samurai honor and political upheaval.
Inoue, known for The Duke of Death and His Maid, infuses the story with emotional depth, dynamic action, and a touch of ecchi humor, making it a standout.
The coming climax and conclusion
As the Kimi no Katana ga Oreru Made – Tsukimiya Matsuri no Koigataki manga approaches its finale, chapter 54 revealed that the story would conclude in the next chapter, signaling a swift but deliberate resolution to Matsuri and Yonosuke’s journey.
While specific details of chapter 55 remain scarce due to limited spoilers, recent discussions on platforms like Reddit and manga sites suggest the ending will probably focus on Matsuri’s emotional triumph.
Her relentless efforts to break through Yonosuke’s obsession with revenge will likely then culminate in a moment of mutual recognition, where Yonosuke acknowledges her not just as family but as his emotional anchor. Fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, the Bakumatsu setting, with its themes of change and loss, continues to mirror the characters’ personal growth.
A growth that has meant Matsuri’s journey is less about defeating a physical enemy and more about dismantling Yonosuke’s emotional barriers, while Yonosuke is forced to admit no matter how much he wants revenge, the death of his first love is something he can never change.
The title, Until Your Sword Breaks, has also gone on to symbolize both Yonosuke’s vengeful blade and Matsuri’s determination to “break” his resolve for revenge.
Fans are now speculating that the ending will balance a (hopefully) satisfying closure with some bittersweet undertones.
