New I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years key visual has Azusa, Falfa, Beelzebub et al in countryside on a pink-cheeked walk

viennampr Steven Reynolds May 10, 2024

Even though Season 2 of the I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level anime series won’t be out until 2025, that’s not stopping the production committee from doing a nice job promoting it.

The anime’s latest promo is a bright and colorful new I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years key visual featuring protagonist Azusa, along with Falfa, Shalsha, Laika, and Halkara and a more reserved Beelzebub following in the background. (see below)

Yep, Beelzebub who, sharp-eyed fans will notice, was not featured in the first iteration of the visual.

All of them look pink-cheeked and happy, as they take a walk outdoors.

Yep, that fresh air will do that to ya!

The new I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years key visual was released on the anime’s official X channel earlier today, along with a message saying “Expect new characters to be added to upcoming promos as the new season nears”.

The I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years anime has new staff

Fans will also remember the first season of the slice-of-life anime premiered in April, 2021 and ran through June, 2011 so, yep, it’s been a while since we last got an update on the goings on in the lives of Azusa and friends.

The anime itself is based on the light novels written by Kisetsu Morita and illustrated by Benio.

That I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years light novel series currently has 24 volumes out in Japanese, with 14 out in English via Yen Press and Volume 15 due out in July.

Yen Press has this to say about the novels’ plot:

After living a painful life as an office worker, Azusa ended her short life by dying from overworking. So when she found herself reincarnated as an undying, unaging witch in a new world, she vows to spend her days stress free and as pleasantly as possible.

She ekes out a living by hunting down the easiest targets – the slimes! But after centuries of doing this simple job, she’s ended up with insane powers…how will she maintain her low key life now?!

Unfortunately, first season director Nobukage Kimura will not be back to direct Season 2, with that job now being turned over to Kunihisa Sugishima, who has directed several very average anime series.

We will have to wait and see how that turns out.

At least screenwriter Naohiro Fukushima is back in charge of series composition for Season 2, although character designer Hikaru Kodama is taking over the beautiful work created by character designer Keisuke Gotou in the first season.

First-time studio Teddy is also taking over animation from Revoroot.

See where this is going?

A successful anime taken over by a new, untested studio, a director with low-level experience (Battle Spirits anyone?), and several other new staff members, including a first-time character designer.

Can’t say I’m holding out much hope for a similarly good anime as Season 1, but… could be pleasantly surprised, so I’ll reserve judgement until it premieres.

Until then, enjoy the upbeat new I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years key visual.
