2nd Observation Records of My Fiancée has Bertia and Cecil looking very happy together
Upcoming fantasy rom-com anime Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess has dropped a new incredibly vibrant 2nd key visual.
The anime’s latest key visual has “villainess” Bertia Ibil Noches running down a path and excitedly pointing at something as her fiancé, Cecil Glo Alphasta, is being pulled along behind her.
Of course, as Cecil thinks everything Bertia does is wonderful (even if she is a bit of a moron), he’s just happily going along with her.
In the background, we can see a group of other people looking on, while an angry-looking pink-haired girl (the heroine?) skulks in the bushes glowering at Bertie and Cecil.

The anime itself is set for a premiere date some time in 2026, with Bertia being voiced by Miyu Tomita (Airi in Touring After the Apocalypse), and Cecil played by Yusuke Kobayashi (Subaru in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-).
Observation Records of My Fiancée production information
The anime is being adapted from the light novel series written by Shiki and illustrated by Wan Hachipisu, which was published in two volumes, and with its second volume coming out in September 2017.
So, yep, an anime adaptation has been quite a long time in coming.
The series was so popular in Japan, however, that a sequel series began publishing five years later with the title Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess.
I’m guessing if the anime is successful, we may get an adaptation of that one as well.
Junichi Yamamoto, director of one of my recent favorites Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion is directing. So if Observation Records of MyFiancée ends up with the same atmosphere, it could be a fun watch.
Akiko Inoue (screenwriter for One Piece) is in charge of series composition, and Miki Matsumoto (Summer Time Rendering) is designing the characters.
Ashi Productions (animators of 365 Days to the Wedding) is in charge of animation.
Plot of Observation Records of My Fiancée
The first volume of the Japanese light novel series describes the fun fantasy plot like this:
Crown Prince Cecil is so excellent that his life is on easy mode and, for Cecil, that means it’s pretty mundane. One day, while he was living his usual boring life, he suddenly finds himself engaged to the Prime Minister’s daughter, Miss Bertia.
“Your Highness Cecil! I am the villainess!!” The words that come out of her mouth are all incomprehensible.
Apparently, Miss Bertia has memories of her past life and is the “villainous daughter” in something called an “otome game.” And now, her goal is to become a great villain, and have her engagement broken off.
To achieve this, Bertia plots all sorts of evil deeds, but they always end in failure…
Meanwhile, Cecil watches Bertia closely and thinks all of her “evil deeds” are actually nothing but kind.
We don’t have a set date for the Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess premiere yet.
Look out for it arriving some time in 2026 then. Meanwhile, the anime’s first trailer — introducing Bertia and Cecil — has just been released.
