Lishu is happy just to be with Ah Duo
Following on from October’s The Apothecary Diaries seasonal visual (Jinshi watching bare-chested Basen and Lihaku train), November’s visual has just dropped and it’s just as cool.
This time, The Apothecary Diaries ‘Season Plant’ visual features the youngest royal consort — Lishu the Virtuous Consort — and the oldest — Ah Duo, Pure Consort — as they sit in a ginkgo biloba tree grove admiring the beautiful Fall leaves.
This one is more touching than previous visuals from The Apothecary Diaries anime series, as it shows just how happy Lishu is to be with Ah Duo; someone who is more a mother to her than her own late mother was able to be.
Sadly for Lishu (at least where we are in the anime at the moment), she isn’t able to spend much time with Ah Duo since the now-former consort has left the Interior Palace, and gone to live in the Southern Imperial Villa instead.

The latest The Apothecary Diaries news
With Season 2 ending its 24-episode run in July this year, we have already had not only an announcement of a Season 3 currently in production, but a premiere timeframe of some time in October, 2026.
Several other seasonal visuals have also dropped this year, as well as the first key visual for Season 3 (above), a cute visual of Maomao and Kyou-u picking summer vegetables, and the announcement of a full-length Apothecary Diaries anime film with a December, 2026 release in Japan.
And, if that’s not enough, a 2nd Anniversary Trailer giving a quick look at some of the anime’s best scenes dropped last month.
With almost a year to go before Season 3 of the hit historical mystery anime releases then, we can expect a heckuva lot more.
Light novels, staff and animation studios
The first two seasons of The Apothecary Diaries were directed by Norihiko Naganuma, who is directing the upcoming movie. He is also series composer for all three.
Studio OLM (animators of Summertime Render) and TOHO Animation (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) animated both seasons (and are likely animating Season 3, although that has not yet been announced).
All three seasons, and the film, are based on the light novels (and manga adaptation) written by Hyūganatsu and illustrated by Touko Shino,
The light novel has 16 volumes out in Japan, with seven volumes out in English via Square Enix.
Enjoy Lishu and Ah Duo’s sweet season visual, and expect a December one releasing next month.
