New character illustrations remind us Frieren and Fern are adorable
With excitement ramping up as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Season 2 will soon be upon us (January 16th, 2026), the production committee for the fantasy anime are likely to be dropping some very nice promo pieces in the next couple of months.
Some of those already hit today, with three new character illustrations of Frieren herself being released on the official Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End X account,
Two of the three are of Frieren alone — one of her sleeping, and the second from that “blowing a kiss” scene in Episode 13 of Season 1 of the fantasy adventure — while the third is a character drawing of Frieren with Fern, as she attempts to take treasure from a mimic chest and Fern pulls her back.
Just like a good apprentice should.
The three new illustrations follow on from the cool character illustration for Frieren, Fern, and Stark, which came out earlier in the month.
You can see how high the anticipation is for Season 2 of Frieren releasing as well as, in the few hours since the three Frieren and Fern character illustrations came out on X, they have already earned almost 420,000 views.

Like its first season, the second foray into Frieren’s world is based on the smash-hit manga series of the same name, which is written by Kanehito Yamada writes and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe.
Tomoya Kitagawa, episode director of Season 1, is taking over the helm from Season 1 director Keiichirou Saitou, while Tomohiro Suzuki is back in charge of series composition and scripts, and Maru Takase (Violet Evergarden) is taking over character design.
Season 1 animator MADHOUSE is also back to animate.
