The All-devouring Whale: Homecoming character PVs for Fan Lingxiao and his catfish spirit pet out
New The All-devouring Whale: Homecoming character PVs have been released for protagonist Fan Lingxiao, and his catfish spirit pet (watch down below).
The two character PVs were released via the Made by Bilibili YouTube channel ahead of the premiere of the Chinese donghua, which hits Bilibili on May 1st, and follow on from the donghua’s first poster, which was revealed last month.
Both do an excellent job of showing off its beautiful art style and the high-caliber of 2D animation that is obviously being created by animation studio Big Firebird Culture (The Super Cube), as well as hint at something of a fun, and quite unusual, plot.
Along with the catfish spirit pet PV, the animation studio commented the wishes of Fan Lingxiao:
“Go, Little Catfish!
You’re my very first spirit beast. I know you’re full of resentment—you want to prove yourself, don’t you?The world calls you a ‘useless pet,’ a ‘monster,’ hunting your kind to extinction. But only I know your true strength. That ‘master-devouring’ incident? Just a fluke
.As long as I have you, I’ll reclaim everything I’ve lost!”
The All-Devouring Whale: Homecoming production details
As I mentioned, the Chinese animated series is being animated by studio Big Firebird Culture, and produced by Bilibili.
Titled Kun Tun Tianxia Zhi Zhang Men Guilai (鲲吞天下之掌门归来) in Chinese, The All-Devouring Whale: Homecoming will consist of 20-minute episodes, with 12 episodes currently planned for the donghua’s first season.

Bilibili explains The All-devouring Whale: Homecoming plot like this:
Fan Lingxiao is a gifted spirit pet master in Lingxiao Sect, but he’s stabbed in the back at a competition between top sects and devoured by his own spirit pet whale Kun.
He wakes up to find that he’s become Liu Fengmang, a teenager held in the cell of Bai’s Residence. At the same time, Lingxiao Sect is on the verge of collapse.
In order to find out the truth of being devoured by his spirit pet and revive his sect, Fan Lingxiao leads his existing spirit pets, together with Gu Ling, Cheng Xi, and Yue Tong, on a new adventure.
The All-Devouring Whale: Homecoming, Episode 1 premieres on Thursday, May 1st at 11:00 AM (Beijing Time), with new episodes releasing every Thursday at the same time.
Now, this one I am really looking forward to.
