Non-credit opening animation features the hotties of F/ACE, Utage Kinoshita and “Sweet Magic” OP
Although I expected new comedy romance anime Tamon’s B-Side to be a fun watch, I was blown away last night by Episode 1’s zany humor, crazily-wild graphics, the brilliant voice acting of both Kakeru Hatano as idol Tamon Fukuhara and Saori Hayami as Utage Kinoshita, and the helter-skelter pace of its plot.
I also howled at the inner monologue of both Utage and Tamon because, yep, as a former idol worshipper and someone who struggled with self-confidence growing up, I related to both of their delusions.
Yep, Tamon’s B-Side, Episode 1 far exceeded my expectations and beautifully set me up for what I fully expected to be an upcoming full season of non-stop laughs.
The just-released non-credit Tamon’s B-Side opening animation shows off some of that craziness, while also introducing each of the hotties that make up idol group F/ACE.
We also get a look at protagonist Utage’s unique ability to not only make idol Tamon laugh, but also to boost his self-confidence when he needs it.
The anime’s opening theme song “Sweet Magic” performed by the boys of F/ACE is that upbeat track that plays along with it.

The hilarious rom-com, which is based on the popular manga by Yuki Shiwasu (author of Takane & Hana), is animated by the always wonderful J.C. Staff (animators of DanMachi).
Chika Nagaoka (Uta no☆Prince-sama♪) is directing,with Chiaki Nagai (22/7: 8+3=?) in charge of series composition and writing scripts, and Yokou Itou (Amanchu series) as both character designer and chief animation director.
The Tamon’s B-Side story is pretty simple but is so nicely written and so fabulously voice acted, Episode 1 stood out as introducing one of the most promising new releases of the Winter, 2026 season so far.
VIZ Media, who publishes the manga in English (9 volumes out so far), explains that fun plot like this:
High schooler Utage Kinoshita works part-time as a housekeeper so she can afford her fangirl obsession with Tamon Fukuhara, her favorite member of boy band F/ACE.
When work serendipitously sends her to the home of her idol, she discovers that the real Tamon couldn’t be more different from his wild and sexy onstage persona!
Tamon’s B-Side, Episode 1 is now streaming on Crunchyroll, with just the original Japanese-language edition out so far.
If the rest of its episodes are as brilliantly-written, acted and animated as its first, I am guessing Tamon’s B-Side
