Heaven Official’s Blessing short film trailer isn’t censored – Yay!
Fans of the smash-hit donghua Heaven Official’s Blessing (aka Tiān Guān Cì Fú), myself included, are always ecstatic when anything new comes out about Xie Lian and Hua Cheng — their absolute favorite lovers.
Today then has been a bumper day as, not only did we get a trailer for the upcoming Heaven Official’s Blessing short film (watch below), we also got a beautiful illustration and a video promo for the donghua’s 4th Anniversary this week.
And, while it isn’t the long-awaited third season of the danmei donghua (yet!), the trailer for the previously announced Heaven Official’s Blessing short film is still a lovely gift.
Especially as it features that beautiful instance when Hua Cheng met Xie Lian for the first time as he fell from the city wall and Xie Lian flew to catch him.
And, in a big surprise to we fans, it appears the censorship from the Chinese government hasn’t impacted the trailer of the short film, at least, as in it we distinctly hear Hua Cheng saying about Xie Lian.
“A fleeting glance, and I’m lost for a lifetime. My beloved is a noble soul… I’ve liked him since I was a kid, and it’s been many years now. I went through so much just to catch up to him”.
Nope. No censorship there at least.
The gorgeous Heaven Official’s Blessing 4th Anniversary illustration also features a happy Xie Lian and Hua Cheng holding hands as they fly through the air surrounded by cranes.
Cranes, of course, symbolize a noble character and a sign of being long-lived.
Something that holds true for both Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. Long-lived especially, we hope!
And, in the celebratory and very lovely 4th Anniversary video, which looks at the Four Calamities, we not only get to see Xie Lian and Hua Cheng both together and apart, but Yushi Huang looking utterly stunning and also making a much-enjoyed appearance.
As for the Four Calamities, Qi Rong is his naughty self, Bai Wuxiang, the most powerful of the calamities is as mysterious as always, He Xuan could not be more beautiful and, of course, Crimson Rain Sought Flower aka our beloved Hua Cheng we just love, love, love.

As for the Heaven Official’s Blessing short film, there is no word yet on when it’s releasing, but we will keep you updated here at Baozi Buns as more information comes out.
