Blue Miburo, Season 2 – Taku Yashiro joins cast as Susumu Yamazaki – one hot boy playing another

Best anime for the most handsome men? Blue Miburo without a doubt
One of my fave anime’s of the Fall, 2024 anime season was the historical samurai-themed Blue Miburo (aka Ao no Miburo), and I’ve been desperately waiting for its second season since its last episode premiered in late March this year.
I mean, come on, we don’t get anime featuring that many hot guys very often, and Blue Miburo‘s pretty character designs made those guys even cooler.
That’s why I am happy today to hear voice actor Taku Yashiro (Jinta in Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho) has been cast in the upcoming Blue Miburo, Season 2.
But… even happier to see his character, wandering swordsman Susumu Yamazaki, is another hot boy, as you will see from his just released character design. Then again, so is Taku Yashiro, so that’s fitting, eh?
Blue Miburo, Season 2 production deets
Like its first season, Blue Miburo, Season 2 is based on The Blue Wolves of Mibu (aka 青のミブロ) manga written and illustrated by Tsuyoshi Yasuda. Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English.
Kumiko Habara (I’m Standing on a Million Lives) is returning to direct Season 2, with the incredibly prolific screenwriter Kenta Ihara (Ishura) in charge of series composition, and Yuko Oba and Miyako Nishida designing those gorgeous characters.
The anime’s music is bangin’, with Yuuki Hayashi (composer for the My Hero Academia OST) also back composing the second season’s.
Maho Film (animators of In the Land of Leadale) has also returned to animate.
Season 2 of Blue Miburo is set to premiere next month — December, 2025.
The plot of Blue Miburo
While the second season of Blue Miburo covers the manga’s Serizawa Assassination Arc, and will begin from Volume 9, Chapter 73 of the manga, its main story goes like this:
Kyoto, 1863. Nio is an honest, kind, family-loving boy, but deep in his heart he burns with justice due to all the injustice he sees around him.
When he meets Toshizou Hijikata and Souji Okita, members of the Miburo, a group of hated ronin, the curtain rises on the boy’s turbulent youth.
Nio and the other strong, brave men who live their lives to the fullest, walk the “path of sincerity” with a youthful will in their hearts!
