New Celestial Above All poster out as donghua premieres today – here’s all the details

Chinese donghua Celestial Above All (aka Ling Tian Du Zun — 凌天独尊) has just dropped a new poster on animation studio Suoyi Technology‘s Weibo account, as the animated series itself is set to premiere on iQIYI today.
The poster, featuring protagonist and sword saint Ling Tian, was released along with a reminder about the donghua’s broadcast and its plot:

Emperor Ling Tian goes back three hundred years, returns to change his fate and save his lover.
Starting July 2nd, the first 4 episodes will premiere, followed by 1 new episode releasing every Wednesday and Saturday, exclusively on iQIYI.

The fantasy martial arts donghua is adapted from the hit web novel Peerless Ling Tian, written by Luo Chengdong.
That novel features 200 chapters in total, and officially ended in June, 2024, which means there is enough material for many episodes, and a solid story ending, if the Chinese animated series is successful enough.
There is no word yet on how many episodes Celestial Above All is expected to comprise but, as it is a Suyoi Technology-animated series, most of their work tends to be lengthy. So there’s that.
Even if what they create is not always the best quality animation out there.
The historical martial arts donghua is rated a PG-13 in China, and comes with a plot synopsis that looks like this:
After a catastrophe, the sword master Ling Tian was reborn via the Heavenly Dao Monument three hundred years earlier.
In his new life, he is determined to change his fate, kill all his enemies, and stir up the world with his beloved.
The story revolves around Ling Tian’s road to revenge, involving the power struggle between the Xuanyu Wu family, Futian Palace and other forces.
A pretty typical plot overall, but one that still sounds like fun.
A short Celestial Above All trailer was also released, although, sorry, it only has Chinese subtitles, but it will give you a quick idea of the animation quality and its likely plot style.
I checked iQIYI a few minutes ago and, as of now — 2:30 PM Central European Time — there is no sign of the donghua premiering on that platform or on their YouTube channel.
Most of the time, though, we get iQIYI’s latest releases around 6:00 PM.
Keep your eyes peeled then, as it’s likely to drop soon.
