Get Ready for an Emotional Island Adventure!
Upcoming anime film To You in the Beyond (aka Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e) just dropped its main trailer, a gorgeous new key visual, and a fresh wave of voice cast announcements — and, yep, I am now even more excited for this one!
Especially as, from what has been released so far, this heartfelt anime film adaptation of Akiko Abe’s acclaimed 2017 novel is shaping up to be one of the most touching releases of 2026.
Produced by TMS Entertainment and hitting Japanese theaters on thOctober 9, 2026, it promises beautiful animation, mystery, romance, and coming-of-age vibes that will tug at your heartstrings.
International release details are still under wraps, but the hype is real, and I’m hoping it will be soon!
A Mysterious Encounter on a Remote Island
Kazuki Tsukigase is a high school boy carrying a secret. Desperate for a fresh start where no one knows him, he transfers to Sakijima High School on a quiet, remote island. There, he hears whispers about the eerie “Cove of Spiriting Away” — a place where people supposedly vanish.
One fateful day, Kazuki discovers an unconscious girl in the cove. After rushing her to the clinic, she wakes up, but her identity is a total mystery.
She only shares that her name is Nanao Akishika (or Nao), she’s 16, and she softly whispers the year “1974.” What does it all mean?
This touching boy-meets-girl story unfolds with layers of emotion, island legends, and time-spanning secrets.

A Stunning New To You in the Beyond Trailer & Key Visual
On July 22nd, the official channels for the anime film unleashed the main trailer and a breathtaking new key visual!
The roughly 60-second trailer gives us our best look yet at the film’s gorgeous animation, sweeping coastal scenery, and deeply emotional character moments.
It also teases the theme song “Olive” performed by musician Tota, which already sounds like the perfect emotional anthem for this story, doesn’t it?
The new key visual featuring Kazuki playing the piano while Nao dances also perfectly captures the mysterious and poignant atmosphere, highlighting our leads against dramatic backdrops that scream “must-watch.”
If the earlier teasers got you excited, this one will have you counting down the days!
