The Food Diary of Miss Maid sets April 1 advance premiere with new key visual and idol voice actor

Fans of heartwarming slice-of-life series and mouthwatering food porn are in for a treat this spring.
The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Susumu Maeya’s popular manga The Food Diary of Miss Maid (original Japanese title – Maid-san wa Taberu dake) has officially locked in its debut details, kicking things off with an early streaming release on April 1, 2026.
The first episode will drop at midnight JST (12:00 a.m.) exclusively on Japanese platforms including d Anime Store, ABEMA, and Anime Hōdai.
Television broadcasts follow shortly after on April 5, with Tokyo MX airing at 10:00 p.m. JST (9:00 a.m. EDT) and BS Asahi at 11:00 p.m.
Subsequent episodes will air on YTV (April 6) and AT-X (April 7), with simultaneous streaming on the same services starting from episode two.
A delicious premise straight from the manga
Adapted from Maeya’s ongoing digital serialization in Kodansha’s Comic Days, the story follows Suzume Tachibana, a trainee maid from a British mansion who suddenly finds herself living alone in a tiny Japanese apartment for a year.
Far from home and full of worries about her new life, Suzume turns to the one thing that brings instant joy: exploring Japan’s incredible street food and snacks.
From sweet taiyaki and fluffy melon bread to savory takoyaki and onigiri, every bite becomes an adventure.
As the official premise puts it: “What’s a maid to do when she finds herself suddenly stuck in Japan for a year? Eat, of course!”
The series promises a relaxing, appetite-whetting journey that might leave viewers raiding their own kitchens.
It’s the perfect cozy watch for the April season — think laid-back daily life with a side of culinary curiosity and charming character interactions.
Star-studded cast gets new feathered friend in the form of Chun (voiced by Daisuke Sakuma)
Leading the voice cast is Kana Ichinose as the food-loving protagonist Suzume Tachibana.
She’s joined by a full supporting lineup of fellow maids and friends:
- Chihiro Sunou as Ricotta Fresca
- Maki Kawase as Nana Komatsu
- Shizuka Ishigami as Sora Endō
- Hiromi Igarashi as Anzu Shingetsu
But, the big new reveal in the March 10th announcement is idol Daisuke Sakuma of the popular J-pop group Snow Man voicing Chun — a cheerful sparrow mascot from Suzume’s trusty Chun Guide book.
Chun pops in now and again to drop fun food facts and trivia during Suzume’s eating escapades, adding an extra layer of charm and humor.
Creative team and theme songs locked in
The anime is a co-production between EMT Squared and Magic Bus, and directed by Ryousuke Senbo (Yo-kai Watch!).
Series composition is handled by Natsuko Takahashi and Saeka Fujimoto, with character designs by Chiaki Abe.
Music comes from Katsutoshi Kitagawa of ROUND TABLE (at Lantis), and sound direction is by Hiroto Morishita.
Musical highlights include the opening theme “Ribbon” performed by Majiko and the ending “Shiawase Flavor” by ARCANA PROJECT, both of which were already teased in earlier promo videos and are perfectly suited to the series’ light, uplifting vibe.
A brand-new key visual was unveiled alongside the premiere news (courtesy of Happinet), showcasing Suzume and her colorful cast in vibrant, food-filled scenes that capture the manga’s wholesome energy.
