The football-themed anime series Blue Lock, Season 2 has just gotten an official premiere date, as well as two new cast members announced.
The Blue Lock, Season 2 premiere date has been confirmed by the anime’s production committee as Saturday, October 6th in Japan.
The entire second season will comprise 14 episodes — so 10 episodes shorter than its first. Damn.
New Blue Lock, Season 2 cast members
Alongside the anime’s premiere date, voice actors Satoshi Hino (Flio in Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers) and Akihisa Wakayama (Ryuuji in Classroom of the Elite) were named to the Season 2 cast.
Satoshi Hino will be voicing Oliver Aiku, centerback and captain of the Japanese U-20 team, while Akihisa Wakayama is playing Shuto Sendo, the ace striker of the U-20 team.

Just like the first season, Blue Lock, Season 2 is based on the hit manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated Yusuke Nomura.
The manga is being published in English by Kodansha USA, who already has 25 volumes out, and Volume 26th due out in July.
The publisher describe the manga’s plot in this fashion:

Yuuji Haibara is chief director of Blue Lock, Season 2, with Shintarou Inokawa directing the second season, taking over from Season 1’s director Tetsuaki Watanabe.
Taku Kishimoto is back from Season 1 and in charge of scripts and series composition for Season 2, with Kenji Tanabe is also returning as character designer.
Studio 8Bit is also returning and in charge of anime production again.
Mark your calendars for sometime around October 6th after Blue Lock, Season 2 premieres in Japan.
