Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian light novel has 5 million copies in circulation

It is pretty well known that, when a light novel is adapted into an anime and performs well, it is likely to sell a few million more copies than it did previous to the anime release.
Such is the experience of SunSunSun’s Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian light novel, which had already sold a sizeable number of copies before its anime adaptation premiered on July 3rd.
Since then, the total number of copies of the Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian light novel series in circulation has exploded from around 2.6 million copies to the now huge number of 5 million and counting.
Kadokawa announced that 5 million copies in circulation number yesterday, with the Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian being printed via the Sneaker Bunko light novel imprint.
The romantic comedy is also the imprint’s first light novel series ever to reach that 5 million copy mark in its 35-year history.
The Doga Kobo-produced Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian anime series is currently ongoing with 7 episodes now streaming internationally.

Alya is a transfer student enjoying popularity at her new high school, often sporting a cold shoulder while earning high marks in class. She ignores her nerdy classmate, Kuze Masachika, except for when she blurts out a flirtatious line to him in Russian.
Little does she know, Kuze understands Russian, though he pretends not to. Let’s see where this wacky love story takes them!
The light novels the anime series is based on can now be purchased in English via Yen Press, who has four volumes out and Volume 5 due on August 20th.
