Upcoming supernatural romantic comedy anime Dandadan has just received its third trailer.
The third Dandadan trailer features protagonists Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura on their search for ghosts and extra-terrestrials, and all the craziness that that entails.
Because, yep, if you are looking for one of the weirdest, craziest and most imaginative anime this year, if the third Dandadan trailer is anything to go by, it very much looks like this one will be it.
Along with making the anime look hella fun, the trailer also includes a snippet from Creepy Nuts ‘Otonoke‘ opening theme song, and the announcement of the anime’s premiere date — October 3rd, 2024.
The Japanese rock band Zutomayo, by the way, is providing the anime’s ending theme song — ‘Taidada‘.
The Dandadan staff and main cast
The Dandadan anime series is based on the hit manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, which is currently being published in English by Viz Media.
It is being directed by Fuuga Yamashiro in his directorial debut.
Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen) is in charge of scripts and series composition, while Naoyuki Onda (Psycho-Pass) is providing those cool character designs.
Studio Science SARU (Devilman: Crybaby) is in charge of anime production.
As for the cast, Shion Wakayama (Takina Inoue in Lycoris Recoil) is voicing Momo Ayase, while Natsuki Hanae (Ken in Tokyo Ghoul) is Ken Takakura.
My Anime List describes the Dandadan plot in this way:
After being aggressively rejected, Momo Ayase finds herself sulking when she stumbles across a boy being bullied. Saved by her rash kindness, the alien-obsessed boy attempts to speak to her about extraterrestrial interests he believes they share. Rejecting his claims, Ayase proclaimed that she instead is a believer in ghosts, starting an argument between the two over which is real.
In a bet to determine who is correct, the two decide to separately visit locations associated with both the extraterrestrial and the supernatural—Ayase visiting the former and the boy visiting the latter. When the two reach their respective places, it turns out that neither was wrong and that both aliens and ghosts do exist.
This marks the beginning of Ayase and the boy’s adventure, as they attempt to fix the surreal, supernatural, and extraterrestrial elements around them to return to a normal life.
