Scum of the Brave‘s premiere date is just over a month away
New organized crime-themed anime Scum of the Brave has released a new trailer, a very cute key visual of Aki, Yashiro and the rest of the heroes gang, and a premiere date — January 11th, 2026 — in Japan.
The funny key visual released on the anime’s official X page has Yashiro being chased by Aki, who wants Yashiro to be their leader, as Yukine and Saera watch on in the background, and Joe, Maruta and Ishinoo sit at a table laughing.
Yep, the latest Scum of the Brave key visual features every main and main supporting character as the would-be heroes (bounty hunters) socialize (and plan?) together.

New Scum of the Brave trailer drops – intros main characters’ voice actors
Along with the new visual and premiere date, the anime’s YouTube channel has also released a trailer that also begins at the same time as the visual.
In that trailer, we hear Aki asking Yashiro to be their master, and then lead them in a rescue attempt of their friends who have been captured by the Demon King.
After all, they believe he’s a strong warrior with superb abilities so, if he agrees to lead them, Aki says they will agree to be stricter with their training.
Yashiro responds by reminding Aki he’s a self-proclaimed “piece of sh*t”. LOL
The trailer also introduces the voice actors for Yukine (Momo Harumi), Saera (Yumiri Hanamori), Ishinoo (Daisuke Hirakawa), Joe (Hinata Tadokoro), Maruta (Yasuhiro Takato), and, of course, the actors playing Yashiro (Ryouta Suzuki) and Aki (Akari Kitou).
The trailer also gives us snippets of two of the anime’s theme songs — ‘Gun Powder‘ performed by TOOBOE, which is the opening theme for the anime’s first cour, and ‘Mental Rental‘ by Mulasaki Ima for its ending theme.
And yes, the anime will have two back-to-back cours. Yay!
Quick deets for upcoming Scum of the Brave anime
The hero-themed, organized crime, sci-fi anime (yep, it has a lot of tags) is based on the web novel Yuusha no Kuzu written by Rocket Shoukai and illustrated by Yuya Kusaka, and its manga adaptation.
To show how much fun this one should be, Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Natatoro director Shinji Ushiro is directing, while Youichi Katou (Scarlet Nexus) is responsible for series composition, and Rikou Murakami (sub-character designer for My Hero Academia: You’re Next) is designing the characters.
Studio OLM (animators of The Apothecary Diaries and Dark Gathering) are in charge of animation production.
As for the plot of Scum of the Brave, the first volume of its original Japanese light novel explains it like this:
A hero? That’s a job for the lowest kind of scum.”
Modern-day Tokyo, where the head of a mafia syndicate has transformed into a “Demon King.”
Yashiro, a freelance hero known as the Reaper, ends up having to take down one of the Demon Kings infesting Shibuya after helping a passing high-school girl who begs for his aid. But this client, Aki Jougamine, is a real handful. She even claims to be Yashiro’s disciple!?
A mismatched master-and-student duo takes on evil in this full-blown sword-fighting action tale!
For everyone who seeks a genuine hero—this is the story of a true Hero.
Mark your calendars for January 11th, as the anime should be heading our way around that time. Likely on Crunchyroll.
