Sometimes I hear a song and think “Didn’t I hear that on a TV show somewhere?”.
Such was the case of ‘Ubugoe‘ by Omoinotake.
Except, in this case, I heard the song first and then watched the Japanese Boys’ Love drama Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! this week, and realized immediately the show’s opening theme song was that Japanese pop song I loved so much I had had on repeat a few months ago.
And while I like Omoinotake’s ‘Ubugoe‘ as a stand-alone song, I’ve got to say I like the track even more as the Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! opening theme song.
Because it is not only the sentiment of the relationship between Adachi and Kurosawa that is perfectly illustrated with the ‘Ubugoe‘ melody, it is also the song’s lyrics that express how Adachi feels towards Kurosawa, and vice versa.

‘Ubugoe‘, by the way, means ‘Birth‘ and, yep, that is what the relationship between Adachi and Kurosawa is, isn’t it?
The birth of Adachi finally finding someone who loves him, and the birth of Kurosawa no longer thinking people will never be able to see beyond his pretty face.
