New The Apothecary Diaries visual has Maomao and Jinshi enjoying the cherry blossoms and… a drink

Just like last year, the folks creating the smash-hit anime The Apothecary Diaries are continuing on with their release of gorgeous seasonal visuals.
Today’s release then is another beautiful The Apothecary Diaries visual, this time featuring Maomao and Jinshi enjoying the cherry blossoms, which have existed in China, by the way, since ancient times.
And yes, while The Apothecary Diaries is Japanese, it is based on the Chinese Tang Dynasty — 618 to 907 CE.
From the illustration, it also appears both are not averse to a nice little drink to go along with their food, while Jinshi might even be a little drunk. (Note that wink!)
According to the official X account for the anime, which released the visual, the new seasonal plants visual series is to be called “Maomao, Jinshi and the four seasons”. (Remember the lovely lotus flowers illustration from last year?)
A new visual from the series will be released every month on the 22nd (National Cat Day, or Neko no Hi (猫の日) is celebrated in Japan every February 22nd, hence the monthly date).
Now that’s something to look forward to, eh?
Meanwhile, as the relationship between Maomao and Jinshi changes in the ongoing anime series, hopefully, we will see more instances of the two of them becoming closer.
Once Maomao gets over that frog, that is!
The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2 details
Just like its first season, the anime adaptation is based on the hit book series (light novels and manga) by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino (manga written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage).
While the anime’s first season was directed by Norihiro Naganuma, its second season is being directed by first season assistant director Akinori Fudesaka.
Norihiro Naganuma is Chief Director, as well as in charge of series composition, just like in Season 1.
Yukiko Nakatani is the character designer, while that wonderful soundtrack is from Satoru Kōsaki, Kevin Penkin, and Alisa Okehazama.
Episode 16 of The Apothecary Diaries, Season 2, titled “Festering” is due to premiere on April 25th on Crunchyroll.
