2022 is already looking like a stellar year for fans of isekai anime.
Today, another upcoming isekai anime — The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest — updated its information with a premiere date and a very cute key visual.
The new The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest key visual features protagonist Mathias (front), Iris (left), Lurie (top) and Arma (right) looking for all the world like they are about to do some major damage.
And, ooh, those character designs are nice, aren’t they?
The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest is based on the light novels by Shinkoshoto and Huuka Kazabana.
They tell the story of Mathias, a powerful sage who decides to reincarnate into another world so he can become its strongest magic user.
A world in which the ‘Mark’ or aptitude for magic you are born with, decides how much power you have in life.
Like you might expect, things don’t exactly go to plan. Not only is the world Mathias reincarnates into not particularly strong in magic, the mark he ends up with is thought to be one of its worst.
Viewed by the world’s inhabitants as one of its weakest, Mathias now has to prove himself while also fighting against dark forces out to destroy everything.
The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest anime is directed by Noriaki Akitaya (director of Bakuman), with Hiroki Uchida (Gamers!) writing the scripts.
With isekai masters J.C. Staff (KonoSuba and Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) in charge of anime production, it is patently obvious this one should be good.
The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest will premiere on January 8th in Japan, and will stream via Crunchyroll.
