Fans of isekai dungeon-crawling adventures have reason to celebrate today as the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat (original Japanese title: Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes) dropped a new key visual and a fresh promotional trailer.
The video highlights intense dungeon exploration sequences, dramatic character moments, and the series’ signature blend of vampire nobility intrigue and high-stakes action.
The new trailer arrives alongside the announcement of the lead voice actress and an updated premiere window.
Anna Nagase (永瀬アンナ) will voice the protagonist Mercedes Grunewald.
Nagase brings her expressive range to the role of the young vampire reincarnate, who balances childlike determination with the weight of her past-life regrets and family responsibilities. Her performance in the trailer already showcases Mercedes’ resilient spirit and sharp intellect during early dungeon training scenes.
Originally announced in August 2025, the TV anime adaptation shifts its broadcast start to October 2026.
This move positions it among the fall season’s standout titles, giving production studio Teddy additional time to polish the visuals while building anticipation.
Mercedes and the Waning Moon Story Overview
Reincarnated as the daughter of a noble vampire and his shunned concubine, young Mercedes Grunewald knows her privileged life hangs by a thread. When her father inevitably selects a different heir, she fears for her mother’s and elderly maid’s futures. Drawing on her past-life experiences and her innate vampiric potential, she begins rigorous dungeon crawling at a tender age to secure independence and strength. The series follows her journey from overlooked child to formidable adventurer, all while she seeks to fulfill the unachieved dreams of her previous life.
J-Novel Club, who licenses the light novels in English, describes it as a tale of a “waning moon” striving to become full.
The light novels by author Firehead, with illustrations by KeG, have built a dedicated following since their web novel days on Shōsetsuka ni Narō (2018–2022).
TO Books publishes the print editions, with multiple volumes available and strong sales exceeding 150,000–200,000 copies in circulation. A manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya runs concurrently.
