While you may not be familiar with the fantasy light novel The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!, as it’s currently only officially available in Japanese, if you enjoy a more unusual isekai story, you’ve probably heard about/read its English-language manga adaptation.
That very funny light novel series (and hence the manga) has now received an anime adaptation, with The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)! TV anime being announced on its official social media channels today.
It also got its first key visual featuring protagonist Hibiki.
And a teaser trailer (below) showing him arriving in another world and, yep, this one looks hilarious.
Official announcement and release date
The anime’s official website and X account for The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)! officially launched today, revealing that the anime adaptation is set to premiere some time in April 2026.
Alongside the announcement, fans were treated to a funny first teaser trailer and a pretty key visual that offer a first look at the world of adventurers, hidden powers, and isekai-with-a-twist that defines this fantasy favorite.
And, is it just me, or is anyone else suddenly getting flashbacks to KonoSuba vibes?
Meet The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage cast
Along with the anime announcement, we also got the release of a very solid The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage cast that will be bringing the light novel’s characters to life.

They include Hisako Kanemoto (Aoi in Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki) who is voicing ever-resourceful protagonist Hibiki Manabe, while Shizuka Itou (Torture in ‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess)is playing Emalia.
The fierce-looking Claude is voiced by Kenta Miyake (Vlaic in Good Bye, Dragon Life), and Lamalfa Michelle Tateyama (Tenka in The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) lends her energy to the adorable Lilian.
Rounding out the main team, Yukina Shutou (Aries in A Wild Last Boss Appeared!) steps in as the utterly cute Vene.
Production staff and animation studio
Behind the scenes of The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)!, Makoto Hoshino (Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside) directs the series, while Megumi Shimizu (Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers) handles series composition.
Character designs are being created by Mihoko Okawa and Yoshie Matsumoto, with Studio Flad (Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!) animating.
Why you should be excited
With its unconventional twist on the fantasy genre – where the strongest job isn’t a hero or a sage but an appraiser!!! – this series promises a fresh spin on a sometimes tired genre, dynamic characters and, from the looks of that trailer, plenty of solid humor.
Combined with a talented production team and a release window now on the horizon, if Studio Flad and the rest of the production team do a good job, The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)! could shape up to be one of 2026’s most anticipated anime.
Stay tuned to Baozi Buns for more updates as the April 2026 premiere approaches. Now I’m off to add this one to my MAL ‘plan to watch’ list. Aren’t you?
