Blue Lock anime gets trailer, a cool visual and voice actors named — and a 2022 release date

Fans of sports anime will be thrilled with today’s news the upcoming Blue Lock anime has a new trailer, a key visual, a slew of voice actors named and, oh yes, a 2022 release date.
According to Comic Natalie, voice actors announced to star in Blue Lock so far are as follows — Kazuki Ura (World’s End Harem, Futsal Boys!!!!) will play Yoichi Isagi, Tasuku Kaito is voicing Meguru Bachira, Yuki Ono (BEASTARS, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma) will star as Rensuke Kunigami, and Soma Saito (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) will play Hyoma Chigiri.
And, oh yeah, the series is about football.
Tetsuaki Watanabe (episode director of Haikyu!!) is directing the anime, with Shunsuke Ishikawa (episode director of Monogatari) as his co-director.
Taku Kishimoto (Haikyu!!) is in charge of series composition, with Masaru Shindo (Fruits Basket) as the main character designer.
Studio eightbit is producing the series.
The Blue Lock anime series is based on the manga series by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura.
Kodansha, who is currently publishing the manga in English, has this to say about the plot:

The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players.
Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
While a specific date has not yet been set for the release of the Blue Lock anime, sometime in 2022 is currently being talked about.
Here’s hoping, as this one looks superb.
