What do we know about the Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None‘s production?
Yes, this one is yet another ‘dumped by his party and goes on to become a rockstar’ anime but, let’s give it a chance, eh?
Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None is based on the light novels by Itsuki Togami, which currently have close to four million copies of nine volumes out in Japanese, plus 17 volumes of its manga adaptation, with Volume 17 releasing today.
It is being directed by Hiroyuki Kanbei (Plunderer), with Masashi Suzuki (Fantasia Sango: Realm of Legends) in charge of series composition, and Naoto Nakamura (Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota) designing characters.
Animation Studio 42 is animating.
The first volume of the Japanese light novel series talks about the story we can expect to unfold like this:
“Orhun Dura, you will be leaving the party as of today.”
Due to party circumstances, Ohrun was converted from a swordsman to an enchanter, which is not his main job. One day, he was suddenly notified that he was being fired for lack of skill. His physical abilities and the magic he can use are average, with nothing outstanding. Orun’s only redeeming feature is that he is able to quickly acquire skills that even an average person could acquire if they put in the effort – he is truly a jack of all trades, master of none.
But, when he resumes his solo activities, Orun reverts from an enchanter to a swordsman. However, as it turns out, his time as an enchanter was not in vain.
The knowledge and experience he gained during his time in the hero’s party, as well as the multiple original magic spells he developed, have made Orun a swordsman with extraordinary strength…!?
