Gabriel DropOut opening song ‘Gabriel Dropkick’ is as hilarious and crazy as the anime

The Japanese anime Gabriel DropOut is one of my favorite moe anime series. Primarily because I am a sucker for grumpy female characters that have no interest in pleasing anyone.
Hence my love of Gabriel DropOut‘s main character Gabriel White Tenma. An angel who graduated from her school in heaven top of her class, and then headed down to earth to do some good.
But, after just a few hours of playing an MMO video game, Gabriel was addicted. To the extent that she had no interest in ever doing anything else on earth but playing the game.
Who knew an MMO could turn an angel into a grumpy, rude obsessive who is also a complete slob?
Yep, that’s Gabriel DropOut‘s Gabriel.
But it wasn’t just the main character that caused me to be addicted to the show.
Her opposite number the demon Satania, who goes to the same high school as Gabriel, is also one of my obsessions.
Same rudeness. Same couldn’t care less what anyone thinks about her. Same need to live her life on her own terms. Demon or not.

Along with them, and the other two main characters, Vigne a demon who is nicer than anyone and Raphi an angel who is more than a little sadistic and twisted, the Gabriel DropOut opening song ‘Gabriel Dropkick‘ is also one of my not-so-guilty pleasures.
After all it’s very cleverly written, and as hilarious and crazy as the characters in this wonderful moe anime series.
Especially when we get to see Satania chased across the screen by the dog that always steals her melon bread in the animation that goes with the opening song, while she screams “A dog?! Stop it, I can’t sing like this!”
Or Gabriel singing “Ah, I just wish humanity would end”. (Some attitude for an angel!)
Gabriel DropOut‘s opening song ‘Gabriel Dropkick‘ is beautifully sung by Miyu Tomita, Saori Ōnishi, Naomi Ōzora, and Kana Hanazawa, the four actresses that voice the series’ main characters.
The song was written by Kenichi Maeyamada and Shiori Yoshida. Check it out below if you haven’t heard it and, if you have, luxuriate in it again.
