An anime adaptation of the ongoing fantasy light novel series A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires has been announced via the Hobby Japan Novels official X account today.
The announcement came with a visual of smiling protagonist Elizabeth Leiston, and with even the novels’ author Metabo Hagure saying the anime adaptation was a “surprise”.
Nothing has yet been released about the studio animating the series, voice actors joining the cast, or potential premiere date.
We do know, however, if you enjoy an anime with a strong female protagonist, this one could be for you.
A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even publishing information
The A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even light novel series (titled ブチ切れ令嬢は報復を誓いました。 ～魔導書の力で祖国を叩き潰します～ in Japanese) is written by Metabo Hagure and illustrated by Masami.
It has been published since late 2020 when its chapters began dropping on the web service Shōsetsuka ni Narō.
Printed editions of the novels then began being published by Hobby Japan in October, 2022, with Volume 7, the latest in the series, dropping in Japan tomorrow, August 19th.
J-Novel Club publishes the series in English, but with new volumes arriving usually around six months later than volumes in Japan.
Volume 1 of the original Japanese novel series describes the A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even plot like this:
At a party, Duchess Elizabeth is informed by the Crown Prince, who has fallen in love with another young lady, that their engagement is off. She is then imprisoned on unjust charges and realizes that she has been betrayed by the country to which she has given everything…
Finally reaching her limit, Elizabeth decides to go into exile, armed with a grimoire containing great powers! With the help of Lucas Lebrick, a viscount from a neighboring country, she begins a new life and business in a new land. But harboring a fierce desire for revenge against her homeland…
The beautiful Duchess, whose engagement has been broken off and who has been imprisoned, now has the most powerful grimoire in hand, and uses her connections, finances, and military power to get a satisfying revenge on her traitor!!
