New The Duke of Death and His Maid trailer shows reality for Alice and Bocchan
The supernatural comedy The Duke of Death and His Maid was one of the most popular anime in the Summer 2021 anime season.
Thankfully for fans, and that includes me, the wait for the next season hasn’t been too long as we learned a couple of months ago The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 will premiere in 2023.
In an update to that announcement today, we received a lovely The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 trailer and a new key visual, as well as a premiere date of July.
The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 trailer shows Bocchan and Alice, still struggling emotionally as the pair fall in love but are still unable to touch each other.
Meanwhile, the Season 2 key visual features all six of the anime’s most popular characters — Zain and Caph, Bocchan and Alice, and Walter and Daleth — all looking shy and more than a little coy.

Current production details for The Duke of Death and His Maid anime adaptation
The Duke of Death and His Maid anime series is based on the manga written and illustrated by Koharu Inoue.
It has 16 volumes in Japanese, with Seven Seas Entertainment publishing the manga’s English language translation.
There are 4 volumes out in English so far, with Volume 5 due in March, Volume 6 in May and Volume 7 in July.
With the speed of those publication dates, that likely means, if you start reading it now, you will be getting steady drops of new volumes going forward.
Seven Seas has this to say about the plot:
When the duke was a young boy, a witch cast a powerful curse upon him, making it so that any living thing he touched would die. Now a young man, he lives in a sprawling mansion with only servants for his companions: an elderly butler, and his childhood friend, a busty blonde maid named Alice.
Despite the curse, Alice is constantly flirting with him and seems to delight in making him blush! But how close can they truly grow as long as the curse is in place?
The Duke of Death and His Maid anime is directed by Yoshiki Yamakawa (director of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), with series composition by Hideki Shirane (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), and character designs by Mitsuru Kuwabata (High Score Girl).
While some fans including myself were a little wary about it at first, as the art style is a quite strange but, an episode or two in, and the story is so lovely you don’t even notice.
Watch the just-released The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 trailer, and you will see what I mean.
