The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, Season 2 has been officially confirmed at this weekend’s Otakon 2024 in Washington, DC.
The announcement came during a panel for the anime, with no other information except a teaser trailer being released several hours later. (watch below)
The news of The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, Season 2 now being in production also comes just four months after the first season ended, so no waiting for a year or two for fans of this one.
Yay!
The first season of the isekai fantasy anime series aired/streamed from January 6th to March 30th for a total of 13 episodes.
It received pretty strong ratings from most viewers throughout its run, ending up as one of the more popular anime of the Winter, 2024 season.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic anime details
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic anime adaptation is based on the light novel series written by Kurokata and illustrated by KeG.
Called How to Use Healing Magic Wrongly: Main Recovery Team Member Running Through the Battlefield in Japan (literal translation), the light novels are published in English via One Peace Books.
One Peace Books currently has four volumes of the 12 volumes available in Japanese, with its latest volume arriving in May, 2024.
They describe the plot like this:
Usato, an ordinary high schooler, happens to run into two fellow students after school one rainy day. Suddenly, all three of them are engulfed in a magic circle and transported to a fantasy world. There’s just one tiny problem—Usato is simply dragged along by accident!
On top of that, Usato learns that he is capable of using healing magic—an incredibly rare affinity in this new world.
Now Usato must spend his days with the rescue team thugs, struggling through their hellish training regimen—learning the wrong way to use healing magic. Get ready for an eccentric otherworld fantasy filled with comedy and combat!
The novels’ author Kurokata had this to say about the upcoming second season (via press release):

The first season of the novels’ anime adaptation was directed by Takahide Ogata (Motto! Majime ni Fumajime Kaiketsu Zorori), with Shougo Yasukawa (Ayakashi Triangle) in charge of scripts and series composition, and Kenji Tanabe (Blue Lock) designing the characters.
Both Studio Add and Shin-Ei Animation are in charge of anime production.
