Ornest Rain’s character video proves he can beat any monster he attacks
Ongoing fantasy anime The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest has become one of my faves this season due to the camaraderie between the main characters.
Starting off as what looked like a typical action adventure series, it grabbed my attention quickly.
That’s because its four main characters — Ornest, Krasia, Yorha and banished court magician himself, Alec — were people with strong personalities who are incredibly fun to watch as they form an adventuring party, and immediately go to work protecting each others’ backs.
While still making sure they have plenty of time to banter with and tease each other, of course. Even as some of the strongest monsters in the dungeon attempt to kill them.
Although Ornest is brilliant at killing them stone cold dead anyway.
These four have been getting character videos recently, with Krasia’s video dropping yesterday, and today being the turn of Ornest Rain.
He is the ultra-aggressive fighter of the party who, while he and Krasia are always at each others’ throats, and he calls out Alec and Yorha every time they appear weak, his bark is far far worse than his bite.
In fact, when you get to know Ornest, he can actually be quite perceptive as, although he may be loud and obnoxious, there really isn’t much that escapes his attention.
Masaki Mizunaka (Diablo in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord) does a fabulous job at voicing Ornest.
The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest schedule
The 12-episode fantasy anime premiered on October 4th, and currently has four episodes out, with Episode 5 due to premiere tomorrow. (It makes my Saturday even better every week!)
The anime is directed by Ken Takahashi, who also directed Ragna Crimson.
Animation is by Studio Gekkou, who also have a slew of other fantasy anime under their belt, including A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration Hero, My One-Hit Kill Sister, Demon Lord, Retry! R, Isekai Onsen Paradise and is also animating the upcoming There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her.
The plot looks like this:
“There is no need for incompetents who can only use auxiliary magic. You’re fired.”
Alec, the court magician who supports the crown prince behind the scenes, is sentenced to exile by said crown prince (who is a nasty piece of work – my edit).
But, after losing his job, Yorha, a former school friend and genius assistant magician, appears before him. “We need your help. Let’s start again… the continuation of that day.”
Thus, the legendary party that set the record for dungeon floors cleared during their time at the magic academy reunites!
If you haven’t begun watching The Banished Court Magician… yet, and you enjoy a chill fantasy anime with fun characters and a pretty art style, I think you will enjoy this one.
Give it a try.
