Upcoming Josei anime Ikoku Nikki (aka 違国日記 or Journal with Witch) has announced the names of four more voice actors added to its cast. The anime itself is currently set to premiere some time in early January, 2026.
The newest Ikoku Nikki cast members are:

- Sumire Morohoshi (Yuki in A Sign of Affection) who voices Emiri Nara
- Eriko Matsui (Raido’s mother in Aharen-san wa Hakarenai) is Nana Daigo
- Takashi Kondo (Kauss in Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!) plays Kazunari Tono

The anime also released the designs for all four characters the actors will play via the official Ikoku Nikki X account (see above), along with information about the anime’s OP and ED.
They are pop singer/songwriter TOMOO who will be performing opening theme song ‘Sonare‘, while the jazz-based two-piece band Bialystocks is performing the Ikoku Nikki ending theme ‘Kotozute‘.
An official Ikoku Nikki trailer was also recently released, which gives a quick look into the beginnings of the relationship between writer Makio Koudai and Asa Takumi, the 15-year-old niece she is suddenly forced to give a home.
Production details for Ikoku Nikki
The upcoming anime is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Tomoko Yamashita.
It is being directed by Miyuki Oshiro in his full directorial debut, with Kouhei Kiyasu (My Home Hero) in charge of series composition and scripts, and Kenji Hayama (Tiger & Bunny) designing the characters.
Kensuke Ushio, who is known for composing the soundtracks of Dandadan, The Dangers in My Heart, Chainsaw Man and a slew of others, is composing the soundtrack.
Pony Canyon (The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses) is in charge of animation production.

As for the full Ikoku Nikki plot synopsis, the first volume of the original Japanese manga describes it like this:
Makio Koudai (35), a young novelist, cannot overlook the fact that her orphaned niece Asa (15) is being passed around among relatives at the funeral of her sister and her husband, so she decides to take her in.
However, although she brings home her niece, she comes to her senses the next day as her innate shyness immediately kicks in.
After all, Makio had forgotten that her personality was unsuitable for living with someone. Asa, on the other hand, is not shy and accepts her life with Makio, an “unadult-like adult,” even though it is unusual.
