These characters play important roles in the political and social environment of the royal court, expanding the relationships and interpersonal conflicts surrounding Cecil and Bertia.
Their introductions also hint at both comedic misunderstandings and more serious developments that will shape the story.
The newly released character trailer highlights these additions, giving viewers their first animated look at the characters and their personalities. All of whose designs are very brightly colored and cute.
Returning main cast and core characters
The Observation Records of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess main cast remains led by:
- Yūsuke Kobayashi as Cecil Glo Alphasta, the intelligent and observant crown prince
- Miyu Tomita as Bertia Ibil Noches, the noble girl who insists she is destined to become a villainess
- Yume Miyamoto as Heronia Inderon, another key figure within the story’s noble society
An anime with a unique perspective on the villainess genre
Based on the light novel series written by Shiki and illustrated by Wan Hachipisu, the story follows Crown Prince Cecil, whose dull and predictable life changes when he becomes engaged to Bertia.
She immediately declares herself the villainess of an otome game and claims she must commit evil acts to fulfill her destiny.
However, Bertia’s attempts at villainy often fail spectacularly, leading to unexpected and sometimes beneficial results.
Rather than being alarmed about his crazy new fiancée, Cecil becomes fascinated by her strange behavior and begins documenting her actions. Thus, turning their engagement into both an observational study and an unusual romance.
Unlike many villainess stories told from the reincarnated heroine’s perspective, this series unfolds primarily through Cecil’s point of view, which also offers a fresh take on the genre’s familiar tropes.
