Comedy fantasy anime Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess has just dropped a new trailer introducing its main cast.
The first Observation Records of My Fiancée trailer was released via the official YouTube channel of Japanese publishing company AlphaPolis, publisher of the manga the anime is based on.
It features protagonist couple Bertia Ibil Noches (played by Miyu Tomita — Airi in Touring After the Apocalypse) and Cecil Glo Alphasta (Yusuke Kobayashi – Subaru in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-)
The trailer kicks off with Bertia telling her fiancé Cecil, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Alphasta, she will prove to him she is the world’s best villainess.
Cecil, who is completely besotted by Bertia, just looks at her in almost silent admiration and replies “Yeah”. He then tells her not to work too hard.
Of course, Bertia, who is determined to impede the relationship between Cecil and the heroine, Heronia Inderon, insists she will be the most noble flower of evil, as Cecil just drowns in how incredibly adorable she is as she works.
The trailer follows on from the cute key visual of the pair that dropped earlier in the month.
The sweet-looking fantasy comedy TV anime itself is scheduled to premiere some time in 2026.
What we know about the Observation Records of My Fiancée anime adaptation
The anime, also known as Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku, is being produced by Ashi Productions who is also animating the upcoming The Holy Grail of Eris.
It is based on the light novels and manga written by Shiki and illustrated by Hachipisuwan.
Hanashi Media is publishing the novels in English, with Volume 3 already published.
Direction is by Junichi Yamamoto, who also directed the fantasy romance anime Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion back in 2023.
Akiko Inoue (Duel Masters!!) is in charge of series composition, and Miki Matsumoto (Summertime Render) is designing the characters.
Publisher AlphaPolis, who expanded into anime production when they bought White Fox studios (Arifureta and Sengoku Youko) back in August, is producing.
What’s the story about?
As for its plot, Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess follows the previously mentioned Bertia and Cecil as they navigate their relationship, after Cecil becomes engaged to the Chancellor’s daughter.
Interestingly for Cecil, who as the Crown Prince has been given every opportunity and so is bored with life, Bertia insists she has been reincarnated into an otome game as the villainess.
And now she must do everything she can to get her engagement annulled. And, at that, of course, Cecil becomes captivated.
