I, The Executioner earns 7 million admissions – but slower than Exhuma and The Roundup: Punishment

Michelle Topham October 7, 2024

The Korean crime film I, The Executioner has officially earned more than 7 million admissions since its release on September 13th.

According to the Korea Film Council (KOFIC), I, Executioner, as of today, has now earned 7,000,133 admissions in just 24 days.

A superb feat and one that, if you have already seen the film, you will realize is absolutely deserved.

Exhuma and The Roundup: Punishment reached that level faster

But, although I, The Executioner has now had more than 7 million moviegoers viewing it so far, the Korean movie did not reach that milestone as fast as the previously released hit films Exhuma and The Roundup: Punishment.

In those cases, Exhuma had already sold 8 million tickets in just three weeks after release.

The Roundup: Punishment, which had sold 6 million tickets by the 11th day of its release, also hit 7 million admissions just a few days after that.

It then went on to eventually earn more than 11.5 million admissions, a total I have doubts I, The Executioner will get to.

That being said, I, The Executioner is currently 49th on the list of highest-grossing domestic films in South Korea. ahead of A Werewolf Boy (2012) at 7,069,127 admissions, and behind Inside Men (2015) at 9,126,925.

And, as the action crime movie has only been out for just over three weeks, it could still easily catch up and pass Inside Men before it is finished.

I, The Executioner is the follow-up to the hit 2015 film Veteran.

It stars Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In, alongside Jang Yoon Ju, Jin Kyung, Jung Man Sik, Shin Seung Hwan and Oh Dal Soo.
