From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman OP ‘HEROES’ music video – Takanori Nishikawa song is a banger

Takanori Nishikawa’s ‘HEROES‘, the opening theme for the wonderful feelgood anime ‘From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman‘, has an official music video.
The anime OP’s music video dropped late last night on the Japanese J-pop/rock singer’s YouTube channel, with the song itself also officially releasing on May 21st.
The release follows on from the music video for the anime’s equally cool ending theme ‘Alright!!!‘ by FLOW, which came out yesterday.
‘HEROES‘ is Nishikawa’s 7th single.
Its music video features the singer performing the song from a giant billboard, while the lyrics of the track can be seen in a book, and an animated boy leaves the book to walk around town watching people becoming every day heroes.
The MV ends with the boy transforming into real-life Takanori Nishikawa.
Like those of the anime’s ending theme, the ‘HEROES’ lyrics, written by Nishikawa are wonderfully appropriate for protagonist Beryl.
Especially as, even though he initially seems reticent about going to the capital as a special instructor for the Royal knights, he not only steps up to every challenge and kills it, but helps the girls he has previously trained do the same.

The From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman anime series
The first episode of this utterly wonderful fantasy anime series premiered on April 5th, and is currently airing with five episodes still to release.
It follows Beryl Gardinant, a a swordfighting trainer who owns his own country dojo, but is summoned to the capital by Allucia, one of his former students, to train the Royal knights.
Allucia believes her former master, who she idolizes, can help solve some of the problems the knights have been experiencing as, while they are elite forces, their training has still been lacking.
Beryl, initially reticent to go, soon finds himself not only doing a superb job as a special instructor, but also being pulled into solving other problems as others high up in the Royal administration learn that he is skillful and strong.

As fun, relaxing and extremely entertaining anime series go, especially ones chockfull of cute girls and a cool protagonist, you really cannot beat this one.
