Thrilled to see the absolutely superb Korean drama Chief Detective 1958, Episode 7 head even higher up the ratings last night.
Although, let’s face it, other than weird blips with Episodes 2 and 4, the MBC crime drama has performed beautifully right from its first episode on April 19th.
Chief Detective 1958, Episode 7’s rating nationwide last night (according to Nielsen Korea) increased almost a full percentage point versus its previous episode — jumping from Episode 6’s audience share of 9.0 percent to last night’s 9.9 percent.
The Korean drama performed almost as well with audiences in Seoul, where it jumped from 9.2 percent to 9.8 percent on Friday night.
With just three episodes of the MBC drama left to air, it is likely then we will see even higher ratings from here.
International audience ratings for Chief Detective, 1958
The Le Jee Hoon-led drama is also continuing to do very well with international viewers.
IMDB users are currently still rating it a very solid 8.2 out of 10, and have been from the beginning.
Meanwhile, K-drama fans over at My Drama List are giving it an even higher 8.4 out of 10 (an excellent rating from the strict users of the site).
As one commenter there said today:

People like Detective PKH and his wife LHJ don’t exist; if they did, this world wouldn’t be what it is today.
Love all the pure innocent detectives, specially (how) Choi Woo Sung and Yoon Hyun Soo played their characters with such great performances.
Loved it, it is no less than 8.8-8.9 series, do rate it high peeps.
And yes, they are correct with that.

Its next episode will air tonight in South Korea on MBC TV, and on Disney + in some international regions.
