Illusia shows off his evolved form
The second Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling key visual dropped today, with this one featuring protagonist Illusia, both as a baby and as an older evolved version of himself, along with his savior and now-friend Miria.
Ilusia’s more evolved form is that of a large calamity dragon, and is pictured here in front of a burning forest.
The visual is one of a series, as it will be re-released several more times with additional characters added to it the closer we get to the anime’s premiere in January, 2026.
Miria and Illusia did have their official character designs released back in July, but this is the first time we have seen the dragon hatchling in his evolved form. I think he looks cool.

The anime’s official website also released information about the anime’s opening and ending themes.
They are ‘Gliding Claw‘ by Sizuk, and ‘Sky Clipper‘, which is being performed by TAO and SAK.
What is Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling about?
The upcoming Isekai anime is based on the light novels written by Necoco and illustrated by Naji Yanagida, as well as on its subsequent manga adaptation.
A light novel series that started off on the Japanese website Shōsetsuka ni Narō (aka Let’s Become a Novelist), and was soon earning more than five million page reads a month.
Its anime adaptation is being directed by Yuta Takemura (The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan), with Tatsuhiko Urahata (High Score Girl) in charge of series composition, and Masahito Onoda (Mono) designing the characters.
Ga-Crew (The Most Notorious “Talker”...) and FelixFilm (animators of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai) are animating.
As for the plot, the light novels the anime is based on explain that the best:
For now, I’m aiming to become the strongest dragon! I woke up in an unfamiliar forest. It seems I’m in a fantasy world I’ve never known. Looking around, I see terrifying, bizarre monsters everywhere. Looking at myself, I see a huge egg… Wait, hey! Am I reincarnated into an egg?! And it seems I have to hunt monsters and level up in order to hatch from the egg.
There’s no way I can fight! I’m just an egg, after all!!!
Now, personally, I read the first three volumes of the manga series but, even with its beautiful art style, ultimately dropped it as it quickly turned into ‘more of the same’ but incredibly fast-paced.
I will hold out judgement for the anime though, as Ga-crew and FelixFilm may be able to turn a bland story into something more exciting. Here’s hoping.
