Turkey! gets 2nd trailer, 3rd key visual and 5 new cast members as anime’s plot twist shocks viewers

Just-premiered “sports-themed” anime Turkey! has dropped a third key visual, a second trailer and announced five new cast members and their characters.
All things you might expect if you have just watched the first episode of Turkey! and, while expecting a cute slice-of-life bowling anime, ended up getting something entirely different instead.
That, of course, is also why the new Turkey! key visual — titled ‘Bowling x Time Slip‘ — looks like it does, as though the anime takes place in a world of fire and brimstone.
After all, it very well just might as, it appears, the high school bowling team has been transported back in history to the days of Japan’s Sengoku Period (1467-1568).
A period of Japanese history where civil wars, massive social unrest and constant violence were the norm.
That is also why a second trailer has dropped as, with the surprise animation studios Bakken Record and Pony Canyon wanted to perpetrate on their viewers, they couldn’t possibly have released a proper trailer before that.
In the second Turkey! trailer then, we see the reality of where the Ikkokukan High School Bowling Club has ended up and, let’s just say, the tone of where the anime is heading is much much darker than any of us expected. (watch below)
Five new Turkey! cast members announced
Five new additions to the Turkey! cast and their characters were also revealed on the anime’s X account this morning. Their character designs were dropped at the same time, and they are unbelievably cute.
All five voice actors, by the way, are some of those who are in the most demand in the industry, which adds another interesting twist to the anime.
Watch the new trailer for Turkey! below, and get a much better idea of what the anime is actually about than any of us did going into it.
I do have to congratulate the staff of animation studio Bakken Record, and the production companies, for keeping this big of a secret for so long.
Good for them, as that was one of the biggest shocks I’ve had in my anime watching in a while. And now I’m curious to see what we get next week, aren’t you?
