The Winning Try, Ep 9 grabs highest Friday ratings yet as international viewers still positive about K-drama

Korean rugby-themed drama The Winning Try, Episode 9 has grabbed its highest Friday ratings so far this week, with the drama performing exceptionally well both in Seoul and nationally.
According to the latest data from Nielsen Korea, The Winning Try, Episode 9 earned 5.6 percent of the nationwide viewership last night.
That’s a slight increase from the K-drama’s previous Friday-high of 5.5 percent.
Meanwhile, in Seoul, Episode 9 of the sports drama garnered an even higher 6.3 percent of the audience share, which is a nice increase from the previous high of 5.9 percent the Korean drama earned for Episode 5.
The Winning Try still performing well internationally
The Korean drama is also still doing very well with international viewers after Episode 8 aired last night.
On My Drama List, a site where a huge number of international viewers congregate, its very high (for that site) 8.4 out of 10 rating has stayed that way for a couple of weeks now.

Watching this as someone who previously played sports, this show really pulled on my heart strings every single episode. And yes, the focus on the show might not be primarily on just rugby and some parts (e.g. Hanyang vs Daesung arc) might feel really predictable, but I do think the drama have good plots for character development and growth.

Why do people keep bashing the FL? She’s an athlete who suffered heavy psychological trauma after being abandoned and losing her form.
She had to lower herself to work as a contract coach just to make a living and keep training, and she genuinely wants the best for her students. Yet people still expect her to be strong when she has no foundation to suddenly become strong. Before bashing the FL, try putting yourself in her shoes first.
