The South Korean mini series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is going gangbusters on Netflix where, after premiering just two day previous, is already in the #3 spot on that platform’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart.
According to Netflix data, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call was watched over 4.7 million times from January 24th when it premiered to January 26th when the reporting period ended.
Viewers also watched the Korean drama for a total number of watch hours of 32.6 million.
In other words, many people who began watching the K-drama watched all 8 episodes, and all of them in three days or less.
International ratings for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call
You know the Korean drama must be something special when the often-disgruntled users of the Asian drama-focused website My Drama List are currently awarding it an incredibly high 9.1 out of 10 (almost unheard of on that site).
Over on IMDB, a site populated with similarly rarely happy people, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is earning 8.5 out of 10 — a very good rating from users of that site as well.
Of course, having all 8 episodes released on Netflix at once definitely helps, as viewers don’t have weeks to mull over whether a drama is hitting all their feels or not. (Can we get more of these please?)
What is The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call about?
Based on the web novel Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega and Hongbichira, the latest Netflix-exclusive Korean drama stars the stellar main cast of Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, Ha Young, Yoon Kyung Ho, and Jung Jae Kwang.
It tells the story of Baek Kang Hyuk (beautifully played by Ju Ji Hoon), a surgeon who has spent time working overseas in conflict zones, and so not only has superb surgical skills but is also exceptional at working under pressure.
Kang Hyuk then joins the surgical team of a university hospital that is struggling. Both from incompetence and economically.
It is now up to him to turn things around, and not only help create a crack trauma team, but also make sure it helps the hospital survive economically.
All 8 episodes of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call are now streaming on Netflix.
If you enjoy a good South Korean medical-themed drama, love to laugh (it is surprisingly and quite often very funny), like fast-paced action with your hunky doctors, and don’t mind the occasional gory surgery scene, this one will likely turn out to be one of your faves.
Oh and yep, Ju Ji Hoon who seems to be starring in everything lately is phenomenal in the lead role.
