The Dream Life of Mr. Kim Ep 8 grabs BEST rating yet – Koreans appreciating this more than international viewers

Workplace-based comedy performing very well, especially in Seoul
JTBC slice-of-life drama The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, Episode 8 earned the K-drama’s best nationwide ratings yet this weekend.
Nielsen Korea data shows the Korean drama earned 4.73 percent of the nationwide audience on Sunday night, which was a substantial increase from the 3.41 percent it garnered for Episode 7 on Saturday night.
And, while the K-drama did not earn record ratings in Seoul, it has always performed better in that region than nationwide (it’s a little more sophisticated of a drama, which would explain why it’s doing better in Seoul than out in the countryside).
That’s why The Dream Life of Mr. Kim, Episode 8 earned 5.50 percent last night, which is still not quite as high as its all-time high of 5.56 percent for Episode 6.
Must say though, I am very happy to see the Ryu Seung Ryong, Myung Se Bin, and Cha Kang Yoon-led drama doing so well, as it has a well-written script, the humor perfectly hits the spot, and it’s a bit different than the typical comedy dramas coming out of South Korea.
With four more episodes still to premiere then, I am fully expecting The Dream Life of Mr. Kim to perform even better before we are done.
International ratings for The Dream Life of Mr. Kim after Episode 8
On the site I now refuse to name due to its many troll-controlled ratings, as you would expect as the drama is quite smart, The Dream Life of Mr. Kim is currently earning a stupidly low 7.6 out of 10.
As usual, IMDB trolls prove themselves to be even more idiotic, rating the superb Korean comedy an offensively low 6.8 out of 10.
Then again, as those sites tend to low-rate some of the best K-dramas, you can easily determine what is high-quality by looking for the lowest rated dramas and watching them.
The Dream Life of Mr. Kim is also streaming on Netflix in some regions, where it is currently the #3 most-watched show in South Korea, and was also the 6th most-watched show in Vietnam earlier in the week.
Overall, though, The Dream Life of Mr. Kim is obviously a drama the Koreans appreciate more than do international viewers.
Sadly, as they are missing out on something that is beautifully acted and written, and really quite unique.
